The Austin City Council approved several ordinances Feb. 2 that effectively make way for the dozers and street scapers of the so-called Gables development at the former Lumberman’s site near the intersection of Lamar Blvd. and Cesar Chavez.

Continental Citrus Corp. has bought a 92,777-square-foot office building in Plantation for $11.16 million.

Making way for 12 to 16 new buildings, Duke Realty Corp. will begin razing the former General Motors van assembly plant later this year. The project will yield 3,000 new jobs, according to officials.

The metro Denver industrial market continued to strengthen in the fourth quarter of 2005, with the overall vacancy rate dropping to 8.5 percent from 8.9 percent, according to a year-end report by CB Richard Ellis.
